Although many of us will be spending Christmas at home with our families and friends, stuffing ourselves with Turkey & Mince Pies while keeping warm in front of the fire, you might be surprised to learn that more than 4 million Brits will spend the festive season abroad!
Favourite sunshine spots include luxury Thai islands such as Phuket and Hua Hin while the Maldives is always a firm favourite. Other popular getaways for Christmas & the New Year include the magical cities of New York and Paris.
This is of course good news for us, with many Destinology clients choosing to get away for a few days and enjoy a luxury holiday! According to official figures most people will travel between December 16th and January 3rd in the hope of escaping the chaotic atmosphere at home. Heathrow will of course by the busiest airport, with an expected 1.7 million people passing through.
So what can these lucky people have to look forward to on their Christmas jollies? At the Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina in Dubai, guests can celebrate Christmas in style with special dining and entertainment options on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, News Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in several of their outstanding restaurants.
In the Maldives, the Anantara Kihavah Villas are offering all guests who stay between the 24th and 31st December, a choice of a luxury Dhoni sail boat trip with Christmas Hamper, an underwater photo shoot, private wine tasting session or a ‘Cinema under the Stars’ experience with Champagne to make their festive holiday that extra bit more special.
If anyone is welcoming the New Year on the Thai Island of Koh Samui, the W Retreat Koh Samui is hosting a Gala Dinner filled with gourmet cuisine, champagne and wonderful entertainment.
Finally, the famous New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square New York is also a party to remember! Starting with the Masquerade Party at the New York Marriott Marquis and finishing with the spectacular Times Square fireworks and after party until the early hours!
All the above sound wonderful and if you are lucky enough to be jetting off abroad this Christmas, we wish you the holiday of a lifetime… We’ll hopefully hear from you in 2012!
