Destinology in Mexico: Part Two

Onto Part Two then of Destinology's trip to the Mexican Mayan Riviera...

Secrets Capri (Inspection and Breakfast)

The whole hotel is preferred so all guests receive the added extras. We had breakfast here and all agreed that the service was the best we received at any of the hotels we stayed at or visited throughout our whole stay. The hotel has an elegant feel to it with a traditional style, almost colonial. It's a smaller property with 290 rooms. Very close to Playa Del Carmen so ideal for those who also want to go out and the hotel provides a complimentary shuttle. Guests can also eat at the other two Secrets resorts but you must pay for your own transportation.

Secrets Capri has a traditional Mexican feel to it with high quality service and is ideal for those who want to relax but also have the chance to go out and experience the local area if they want to.

Secrets Maroma (Inspection)

Secrets Maroma has a distinct upscale luxury feel to it with a contemporary twist. The beach was stunning and the pool areas were possibly the best we saw,, the infinity pool was a stand out feature. The hotel has seven restaurants all beautifully done and 8 bars offering something for everyone. Most of the restaurants are situated next to eachother giving the resort a feeling of it being alive, I would say especially in the evenings. Secrets Maroma is an all-suites property and offers Junior Suite Swim Out rooms with direct pool access. The rooms were very romantic. I would suggest upgrading to Preferred Club here as there are extra room types in the preferred blocks that you don't get if you are not preferred such as the Preferred Club Ocean View with a jacuzzi tub on the terrace. All Preferred Club suites offer ocean views and most have an outdoor jacuzzi. Secrets Maroma also had a stunning spa.

Dreams Riviera Cancun (Inspection)

The largest Dreams property we saw with a real family buzz to it. Lovely beach and nicely appointed rooms with a modern feel. Would recommend to families who want plenty to do and a social feel to the resort.

Please note, this hotel is not to be confused with Dreams Resort & Spa located in Cancun.

Now Sapphire Riviera (Inspection)

4 Star lead in property that felt more suited to families but did have adult only areas too. Designed with Mexican character and Mayan features. The rooms were bright and had modern touches. This hotel was one of the better lead ins we saw and for clients looking for a 4 star on the Riviera Maya this isn't a bad choice as Now Sapphire had plenty of dining options and a decent beach.

Now Jade (Stayed for two nights)

Situated next to Puerto Morales, a charming fishing village with some local restaurants and bars the Now Jade is a modern 4 star hotel. We had a great dinner at the Tappanyaki restaurant and a lovely dinner at the French restaurant on our second night. The rooms were very modern and very spacious with a seperate living area and a jacuzzi on the terrace. The were two pools - one adult and one family and a nice beach. Slightly lacking in character but I would recommend this as lead in property as I think that if you were looking for a 4 star you would be happy with the Now Jade.
