Back in July of last year I blogged about the opening of the breathtaking Marina Bay Sands resort in Singapore.
Some 8 months on it has now enjoyed a glittering launch party including a particularly impressive light and laser show visible from some distance. This 2, 561 room integrated resort and casino has been a focal point for celebrations and parties but nothing quite like this!
The resort is now in full swing, and the first performances of the Broadway musical The Lion King kicked off on 3rd March just a week or so ago at the Sands Theatre, a 4000 seat venue that forms part of the complex. Watch the Marina Bay Sands video here.
For those keeping tabs on the progress of this all-encompassing resort with world class casino, shopping and gravity defying rooftop pool, you’ll know that Marina Bay Sands is the real deal, sure to put Singapore firmly on the map.
Indeed, the Ministry of Trade & Industry reports that Singapore is the second largest gaming market in Asia and this is thanks in no small part to the casino facilities here.
Resembling from a distance three chunky cricket stumps with a pair of bails balanced on the top (or is that just my daft cricketing brain monopolising my every thought) – the hotel is as impressive from the outside as it is from the inside. Many of the restaurants under construction back in July have now opened, several to rave reviews.
Check our Marina Bay Sands page on the Destinology website and keep your eyes peeled for special offers in 2011.
