Marina Bay Sands Singapore: Have you got a head for heights?

  • Rooftop Pool (top left hand corner of the image)
  • Amazing views from the rooftop pool

The all new $4bn Marina Bay Sands Resort in Singapore features this incredible 55 storey high infinity edged swimming pool. Cool or what?!

At first glance it looks like you could literally swim off the edge here and cascade down to the ground, but worry not, this incredible feat of architecture is as safe as it is visually impressive.  Water runs down from the pool’s infinity edge and is recycled back into the main pool catchment area located below, which also makes it eco friendly.

The pool is around three times the size of your average Olympic swimming pool and located as part of a ‘Skypark’ development perched on top of the three towers of the hotel approximately 650ft above ground level!

There are few places in the world where you could take a swim and experience such scenery. As you swim along, you can look across to the imposing skyscrapers, or down over the city and to the marina below.

The hotel itself features a total of 2,560 rooms and suites costing from £350 per night, as well as casino, an outdoor plaza, a convention centre, theatre, crystal pavilion and a museum built in the shape of a blossoming lotus flower.

Additional features of the hotel (which is being billed as the most expensive in the world to build) include an indoor canal where guests can take a boat ride in Chinese style Sampan boats as well as some stunning one-of-a-kind sculptures including one made from over 16,000 steel rods.

The hotel was given its grand opening in late June 2010 where Diana Ross sang for 2,500 VIP guests in the hotel’s Grand Ballroom whilst Kelly Rowland wowed guests with a concert outside!

The resort is employing 10,000 people directly and its president and chief executive, Thomas Arasi said he is expecting to attract a quite staggering 70,000 visitors per day once it is fully open
