Views in and around Cape Town, South Africa

A list of the best 20 views is like listing the best 20 husbands or wives, or mums or kids – all so subjective it makes little sense compiling one however I think there are so many stunning vantage points in the world that the most striking perhaps deserve a mention.

Kicking off with South Africa (for obvious reasons) I’ve found three beauties to share with you.

Surely a glance out of your bedroom or restaurant window to catch sight of a herd of elephants gathered around a watering hole has to be right up there. To be fair to the safari experience, there are many lodges where this is possible but I’ve singled out one for special recognition due mainly to its position on a small hill giving a perfect viewpoint. (See the illustration above)

South Africa surely has more than its fair share of gasp-inducing sights, not least of which is the amazing Table Mountain, its ever-changing colours and glorious light catching sunsets  which may be captured superbly from Ezard House on the slopes of the mountain itself

But my favourite hotel view in Cape Town is out to sea and the infamous Robben Island that sits defiantly within it; Ellerman House, a truly delightful property located in the Cape Town suburb of Bantry Bay is one which not only captures and presents this view dramatically but features remarkable artwork within its walls when you finally avert your gaze.

A view is a view is a view and there are plenty to go around, take a look from every angle in out stunning South Africa
